The Dissolution EP was created during a 3-month stint in New Zealand during the cold and rainy winter of 2015. Holed up in a home studio with an array of different gear, and the time available the Rat started to experiment and delve into genres outside of his normal rat sound but still incorporating that industrial aesthetic.
He wanted to push his production and see where he could take it all. The four tracks on the Dissolution EP were part of many created during that time but came together to form a solid body of work.
Each track off the EP offers a different insight into this period of time. It’s dark, brooding, almost meditative, with movements buried within the heavy distortion.
